It has been quite a while since I added to The Learning Basket’s Guides to Enjoying and Learning from Philippine Children’s Picture Books. Since today is the birthday of Philippine hero Jose Rizal, I thought I would share here with you a unit study on another amazing Adarna House book that will help Filipino children in getting to know Rizal.

Dalawang Bayani ng Bansa

Written by Rene O. Villanueva, “Dalawang Bayani ng Bansa” is a simple retelling of the lives of the two greatest heroes in Philippine History.  It compares and differentiates the lives and style of Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio while highlighting their common love for the country.

The book, written in Filipino, is recommended for children aged 10-12 but can be read aloud to even 4 or 5-year-olds.  The suggested activities included in the unit study may cater to a wide variety of ages. Pick out which ones you think your child will enjoy in getting to know Rizal and Bonifacio’s influence in our modern-day lives. Click on the image to download your copy.

Dalawang Bayani ng Bansa Unit Study

This is a free download which I hope parents will use to help their children appreciate their country’s history  more! For the complete list of the free downloads, click here. Please share and spread the love!
