Filipino Living Books

We find it effective to use Filipino living books and story books (not text books) to make our children fall in love with our language, history, and culture.

In fact, we’ve published several articles about it through the years:

  • The First Step to Teaching Kids Speak Filipino
  • Fun Filipino Books for Babies, Toddlers, and Beginning Readers
  • Helping Our Kids Speak Filipino Better
  • Rediscovering Philippine folk talkes and legends
  • Five Super Fun Ways to Learn About Magellan and Lapu-Lapu
  • Making Philippine History More Interesting (A Chronological Booklist)

This time, we’re releasing a comprehensive list for Philippine literature, history, and folk songs BY GRADE LEVEL (but of course, you can also check your child’s own reading skill and/or comprehension, not necessarily his grade level or age). Our friend Gina of Our Living Learning actually requested for this book list, so here it is!

We’re offering it as a free download at our book shop, together with the study guides we created for some of our favorite Filipino books. You don’t have to have all of the books listed, but you can keep it as a handy guide when you’re racking your brains on what to read next for Filipino and history (Social Studies/Araling Panlipunan).

We’re always restocking most of these Filipino living books, so you can also choose to wait for some of the titles. Just email us at shop (at) thelearningbasket (dot) com if you have questions and requests.

To download the list, just check it out from our shop and proceed to check out. You need to login to your TLB shop account (or create a free account if you don’t have one yet) in order to download the file. The file will also be kept in the Downloads section of your account forever. 🙂

Enjoy!

P.S. Here’s a special video that Sanne, Gina, and I made about using Filipino books to make the most of this booklist!
