  • Date: June 24, 2017
  • Time: 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Venue: The Parenting Emporium, 29 1st Street, New Manila, QC

The story behind this workshop

We love our kids, yet we always find ourselves in a dilemma over how we should discipline them and deal with misbehavior. Should we spank them? Should we just shrug our shoulders because “kids will always be kids”?

From the time that our eldest learned how to say “no” empathically at about age two, my husband and I decided to be intentional about how we would discipline her (and her subsequent siblings).

I read up on various discipline methods and was naturally drawn to Positive Discipline, which is not authoritarian and not permissive either. Having several years of positive discipline “practice” on my children and now a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator, I advocate this discipline philosophy that is respectful to children yet has boundaries.

What to expect

We will talk about the basic principles of positive discipline based on the work of Jane Nelsen. We will also have hands-on activities to learn concrete strategies in being firm yet respectful in how we communicate with our children. Here are some of the things that we will touch on:

  • Find out why children “misbehave”
  • Understand why we react to “misbehavior” – and why that word is in quotes!
  • Discover long term solutions to usual boiling points

Join us on March 25, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. for an afternoon of learning how to be a positive parent. Learning fee is P600 including snacks by Mama Chows, and handouts.

This parent education class has been conducted for parents in our own classes and in the corporate setting. We are so grateful for our latest opportunity to share about positive discipline to over 200 parents at the Getz Pharma National Convention on March 1, 2017 at Cebu City!

What others say about it

“Hi Mariel and Sanne! Your tips on positive discipline has helped me discipline our two-year old. I could have been an authoritarian parents because that was how I was raised (as what people say, we become our parents). Instead, I learned and still learning to become authoritative. Respect and integrity are far more effective than strictness and rigid control. And oh, the power of hug really works. Thank you!” — Jacqueline Soco-Siy
