Description

Written by Leo Tolstoy in 1886 and adapted for children, this is the enchanting story of a greedy peasant named Pakhom. Although Pakhom enjoys health and family happiness, he envies the grand fortunes of his in-laws. He decides to go on a quest for more land, only to find that with each acquisition new problems develop. Eventually Pakhom learns of an opportunity too tempting to ignore, and travels all the way to the land of the Bashkirs, where he may acquire as much land as he can walk around in one day.
